![]() Normally I'm a heavy tweaker and get right into the ini files and all of that but haven't done that yet. The two I've used when playing DAYZ are Ventrilo and Teamspeak.Ĭodex has a Ventrilo server, you can find more info on it here: Most people use third party software so it's good to have them installed and ready to go when you want to play. There is in-game VOICE IN GAME but it's bugged out right now. ![]() He helped me install the beta patch and if it isn't 5am and you're not full of beer it's pretty easy to figure out.Īnother guide and also some auto patchers that I haven't used but you can find out about them here: I used villans earlier link and it got the game running with the DayZ mod: You can buy them both in a package called Combined Operations, it's $30 on steam and $15 on Amazon. You need both ARMA2 and the standalone addon Arrowhead to play it. Then go inland and have more fun.Īs someone new to both Arma2 and DayZ I'll try and give a crash course on what worked for me and some useful links. It fine to play alone though, try getting your bearings and looting something without getting killed. More reports and screenshots coming up next time when we head to Takeshi's Devil's Castle. I fainted so a bandit took the opportunity to come close and finish me off when I recovered. I had barely recovered from the previous zombie skirmish so I was running low on blood. I hid in a tent, but before I managed to do that I got hit by a stray bullet so I started bleeding again. Chef and I looted the place dry, but we took our sweet time so some bandits ambushed us. Fainted a few times and lost a lot of blood, but I made it. We came across a bunch of military tents where we got ambushed by zombies Creamy didn't make it, unfortunately. We finally made our way to Stary Sobor, popping some zombies on the way there. A few hours passed during this long journey so we switched to a European server as this Kwan server was kinda bugged and the Euro server was on daytime anyway. Had a hunting knife, a gps, a compass and a watch. He eventually rendezvoused with us outside of Pogorevka and we had some pretty awesome loot on our hands. What ensued was a huge zombie skirmish after which I had 35 zombie kills and 18 headshots. I alt tabbed and when coming back to the game I fired a shot by accident. ![]() We found some great loot, but I was a dumbfuck. ![]() Next stop was Pogorevka where we snuck into the church. Stopped by the radio tower and had a huge skirmish with zombies. ![]() Chef had a chemlight on him and we followed him. Those things make sense.Had a great night run with kreamy and khef_hathaway. Other stuff like animations for eating and drinking, I am fine with. Arma games do this just fine, especially since the key for it is on the right side of the keyboard. In real life, you could just one-hand your rifle and look at your compass quickly. Things made no sense and were actually more of a chore than real life. This process was such a pain in the ass, where it was just easier and faster to to the ambiguous "He's in the fucking treeline to the right!" rather than give directions. In DayZ Standalone, they made the Compass completely different, to actually look at it, you have to put away your gun, and take out the compass. In Arma and the mod, you could bring up the compass on screen with the K key, this let you quickly point out spotted enemies to your allies, etc. The biggest offender of this to me was the Compass. I have no problem with some hardcore elements of the game, but some things that were left to abstractions in Arma 3 should still be left to abstractions in DayZ. ![]()
